2026 Ke Ala o ka Mahina - Moon Calendar

The 2026 Ke Ala o ka Mahina circular Moon Calendar offers a Hawaiian perspective on the flow of time. Its design reflects the relationships among the spiritual, natural, and human realms. In Hawaiian culture, the mahina (moon) is an embodiment of the goddess Hina. Our kūpuna (ancestors) used the phases of the mahina as a guide to sustain life and maintain balance in the environment. Developed by Hui Mauli Ola in collaboration with Kamehameha Publishing, the calendar is anchored in Māhealani and follows Native Planters in Old Hawaiʻi, “Mahea means ‘whither,’ and the plants are so prolific and large that they say ‘whither can we grow?’ Currents run strong, but fishing is good. Good for all work.” (Handy, E. S., Handy, E. G., & Pukui, M.
